Spring Election and Presidential Preference Primary – April 7, 2020

PUBLIC RELEASE

Spring Election and Presidential Preference Primary – April 7, 2020

In light of COVID-19 concerns, I am publishing a statement as to the plan for the Spring Election and Presidential Preference Primary – April 7, 2020 election and how that relates to voters in the City of Stanley.

  1. As of 3/16/2020, the Spring Election and Presidential Preference Primary – April 7, 2020 will NOT be rescheduled.  Wisconsin Clerks were told to take appropriate actions as it relates to their specific municipality.  Polls will be open in Stanley for those who need them on Election Day, but most voters should vote absentee for this election.
  2. Voters can register to vote online at www.myvote.wi.gov until March 18th.  After March 18th, voters must come to City Hall to register to vote.
  3. Voters can request an Absentee Ballot online at www.myvote.wi.gov until March 18th.  After March 18th, voters can come to City Hall to absentee vote until 5:00 P.M. April 3rd.
  4. Election Day preparedness measures.
    1. Voting machines will be cleaned at a minimum every hour.
    2. Voters can bring their own pens to vote with. Pens should be ballpoint, do not bring a red pen, gel-pen, or felt tip pen (Sharpie).
    3. Poll workers will monitor social spacing between voters in line as well as keeping any observers at least 6 feet from registration and voting tables.

We will do everything to make sure each voter has the opportunity to vote.  We feel it is important to keep democracy working even during this difficult time we find ourselves in.
